Physical Rehabilitation Questions

  1. What options are offered for physical rehabilitation?
    The pet wellness center offers inpatient, outpatient and home exercise program options to best suit your pets needs.
  2. What does the inpatient option offer?
    Your pet would be monitored 24 hours and receive treatments 2-3 times per day. You will receive daily progress calls from a member of the rehabilitation team or a doctor. In addition, a doctor will check your pet each day they are an inpatient.
  3. What does the outpatient option offer?
    Your pet would be dropped off at 8am and released to your care by 6pm, Monday through Friday. Treatment would be 1-2 times per day, depending on the needs of your pet. A rehabilitation team member will give a progress report upon discharge.
  4. What does the home exercise program offer?
    Your pet is evaluated at the Long Island Veterinary Specialists and a home exercise program is designed for you. Upon release from LIVS, you would meet with a rehabilitation team member to discuss the recommendations.
  5. What is the cost of physical rehabilitation?
    The cost of treatment varies with the needs of your pet. All options will be discussed before release from LIVS or at the time of your pets follow-up visit.

Boarding Questions

  1. What boarding services do you offer?
    The pet wellness center offers 2 different types of boarding services. The first is Daycare; this is when your pet stays for the day while you are at work or just away for the day. The second option includes overnight stays.

    All pets are monitored 24-hours a day in our climate controlled facility. Each pet is placed on a walking schedule and walked five times daily. The pwc will maintain your feeding schedule, with your own food. You also have the option of using our food. Additional services that can be purchased for your pet include playtime and TV. All fees are available upon request.
  2. What if my pet is on medications?
    pwc also provides medical boarding. All medications should be in their original packaging and will be administered by the pwc’s trained and licensed veterinary technicians. The medication schedule you have set up for your pet will be maintained throughout their stay. Should an emergency arise, the pet wellness center is adjacent to a 24-hour animal emergency and critical care center.
  3. Does pwc require vaccinations for all boarders?
    Yes, all pets must be vaccinated prior to their stay at the pet wellness center. A Vaccination Certificate from your veterinarian must be presented on admission.

    Dogs require: Distemper, Bordatella (Kennel Cough) and Rabies vaccine

    Cats require: FeLV, FVRCP and Rabies vaccine.

    *If your pet can not be vaccinated due to an underlying health condition, your veterinarian must provide a letter stating why.
  4. Are pets allowed to have their beds and/or toys from home?
    For health and safety reasons, we do not accept any toys, blankets or beds. pwc will provide blankets and bedding for your pet. All blankets and bedding are sanitize between uses. Please do bring any treats your pet enjoys at home.

Grooming Questions

  1. How far in advance should I schedule a grooming appointment?
    It is best to schedule your pet 2 weeks in advance. For your convenience, there are 2 drop off times daily, 9:00am or 1:00pm.
  2. How often should I bring my pet to get groomed?
    Pets requiring grooming on a regular basis, should be seen every 6-8 weeks to keep their skin and hair healthy.
  3. What does the grooming include?
    All pets brought in for grooming receive a bath, blow out, pedicure, ear cleaning and plucking, cleaning of the paw pads, haircut and style and are topped off with a complimentary bandana.
  4. Is the pwc groomer certified?
    Yes, Danielle Austin is a Master Groomer. Danielle attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Pet Grooming where she received her Master Groomer Certification.
