Doesn’t your pet deserve a vacation too? The pet wellness center’s boarding services take excellent care of your pet, affording you worry-free time away. This specifically designed facility was launched with a Grand Opening in the spring of 2004. Over forty enclosures ranging in space and size to accommodate your pet-large or small, robust or petite-are always available. We are sure to have a superb site for Spot and a perfect place for Petey.
The pet wellness center Boarding Basics
- We welcome dogs, cats and ferrets too, to stay with us.
- Pets are fed just like at home, once, twice or three times a day as the pet-parent requests. Pet-parents can bring in their own food, or we offer Iams Low Residue as a diet that is easy on the stomach.
- Water bowls are always filled and refilled throughout the day with fresh, cool water.
- Our staff loves to spoil our guests, so snack time is a favorite time for everyone.
- Dogs are walked three to four times a day. They are leash -walked individually by a doting member of our staff.
- Our facility is climate controlled, both air conditioned and heated as needed. Your pet’s comfort is a top priority.
- Soothing music is played for your pet’s listening pleasure.
- At night, lights are dimmed and music volume is lowered to make certain that your pet gets a good night’s sleep.
The pet wellness center Enclosure Facts
- We offer medium and large size runs and enclosures.
- Our runs are modular units forged from a state-of-the- art material. Each run has a fold down bed, similar to a Murphy bed. Dogs can relax and sleep in elevated and cushioned comfort.
- Our enclosures are stainless steel with see-through swing-open doors. These enclosures allow our thoughtful staff to continuously keep an eye on your pets and tend to their needs.
The pet wellness center Cleanliness Pledge
- In our facility, cleanliness is essential. We take extraordinary steps to maintain premier sanitation conditions.
- All runs and enclosures are cleaned daily with an anti-bacterial, anti-viral cleaning agent. This program is safe for pets, and specifically designed for boarding facilities.
- Cat boxes are filled with scoopable litter, and scooped throughout the day as needed.
- All our hypoallergenic lambs’ wool bedding is laundered and dried daily at our on-premises facility.
- All dishes and bowls are washed daily with warm water and antibacterial dishwashing soap.
- Our newly installed seamless floors facilitate a high degree of antisepsis.

- TV for Toto? Your pet can kick back and watch Animal Planet on a television set that attaches to the door of his enclosure. Pets love to pass the time watching their favorite shows.
- Spa day for Sophie? We have a certified groomer on staff for all of your pet’s beauty needs. Please see the grooming section (link) of this website for more information.
- Playtime for Petey? Fetch, catch, tug-of-war, hide & seek – what is your pet’s favorite game? Our trained pet-companions and your pet will enjoy active playtime in our specially designed playroom. Our playroom is spacious and filled with all of the balls and toys that your pet loves.
The pet wellness center Tending to Special Needs
- The pet wellness center is not a veterinary facility; however, our location is in close proximity to Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS). LIVS is a premier animal carefacility with veterinary specialists on staff and a 24 hour emergency department. If an emergency occurs during your pet’s stay, help is always just a moment away. - Our trained staff can administer daily medications as prescribed by your veterinarian. The “How To” section details the pertinent information.
The pet wellness center – How Tos:
- How To make a reservation – call us at 516 694-3900 to check for availability and make a reservation. We usually have vacancies; however holiday reservations should be made well in advance.
- How To pick up and drop off my pet – Business hours for the pet wellness center are between 8:00AM and 6:00PM. Early and late drop-offs can be accommodated, however, plans must be made in advance with our staff, and an additional fee applies.
- How To prepare for boarding – your pet must be current with all vaccinations including (for dogs) Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella (links for more info); (for cats) Rabies, Panleukopenia, etc. A vaccination certificate from your veterinarian can be faxed prior to boarding to 516-694-3922 or brought in on the day of drop-off. The pet wellness center does not provide vaccinations.
- How To bring my pet’s food and belongings – all belongings (including toys, beds and food) should be clearly labeled. If any of these items are soiled, they will be washed according to our Cleanliness Pledge. The Pet Wellness Center understands the importance of your pet’s belongings and will do everything possible to safeguard these objects, however, we are not responsible for lost items.
- How To bring my pet’s medications – All pet medications must be in the original bottle with the original label from your veterinarian. This label must include your pet’s name, the name of the medication, and the dosing regimen. A trained member of our staff will ensure that your pet’s medications are administered in a timely and proper manner. A per-dose medication fee applies.
- How To be contacted in case of emergency – The Pet Wellness Center must have your contact information at the time of drop-off. In the case of an emergency, we will do our best to contact you to discuss the situation. In the rare case that an emergency is life-threatening and split-second decisions must be made, the pet wellness center reserves the right to administer life-saving techniques.
- How To get a closer look – We encourage our pet-parents to complete a walk-through of our facility. This will give you the opportunity to meet members of our devoted staff, become familiar with your pet’s accommodations, and give you piece of mind while you are away.
